Good Time Relax You Betcha!

I have a mental list that I consult that puts me back into relax mode. Sometimes it works and sometimes I have to splurge on a 60 minute hot stone massage to dig a little deeper. If I leave the spa not remembering where I was or I can't find my car, I call that mission accomplished in relaxation. Since I'm not very wealthy I can only afford that once a year.
Nonetheless, here are Amanda's patented no frill relaxo methods that probably only work for her!
1. Hail Mary's. I say them in heavy traffic jams, at awkward dinner parties, and right before bed when I am worried about some odd thing.
2. I take a walk and think about nothing.
3. Pet a kitty's soft belly or back, if they prefer. That feels like some sort of relaxing transfer going on from the kitty to me.
4. Stare at my favorite paintings, photos, or actual scenery. I have Storm Front, by Harvey Dunn above my desk. My dream of 28 years of living next to the ocean has come true and has allowed me to relax in front of a soft beach scene. Dali is also a source is deep relaxation for me - he always lets me play around with metaphors in his work.
5. Read. This is a luxury. I always treat it as one: get some coffee or tea and find a soft couch or backyard and just read.
6. Send postcards or funny texts to loved ones. I usually end up sketching silly animals and get more fun out of it than the recipient.
7. This is a long term relaxo method and is by no means not a relaxing task in the moment - but exercise has long term relaxing benefits for me. I breath easier after an intense session. My mind, soul, and body are aligned.
8. Play bluegrass music in jams. I haven't been able to find one in Jacksonville yet but I hope I do.
9. Write little one page stories or sketch a memory for an hour. I always feel a big sigh come out of me when I'm finished.
10. A hug, holding hands, or a back rub from a loved one goes a long way.
Thank you for allowing me to share these with the WryteStuff community. I always treat my relaxation time as a great gift and know that I am very lucky to be able to even do one a day.

These are all great. And despite your disclaimer, I think they would work for others as well. I know I feel more relaxed after spending some time with our cat. And just having her sit in my lap, purring off to sleep is veeery relaxing. Don't know why I didn't include that in my silly article. :)
Sounds to me like you do a very excellent job of relaxing!
Hugs,
DianneThank you, Dianne. Kitties are always the way to go!
Fabulous - I love your list! Bluegrass is a favorite of mine as well. I loved the transfer of relaxation from kitty to person. I have a barn cat that is super affectionate too! This is awesome.I did always want to live on a farm so I could have barn cats. They always have the best personalities. It's true - she is percocious and sassy and drives our doberman nuts. I have a couple of funny pictures of her - as a Kitty on a Hot Tin Roof, and also Kitty on a Fencepost. I'll have to see if I can figure out a way to write about something where I can use those photos!! Ha.
Thanks for sharing your relaxing methods, I liked that one with favorite paintings :) And yeah, welcome to the group ^^
Amanda,
Thanks for sharing these methods to relax.

Just reading this got me. I drifted away with you, and also experienced the assuaging nature of your style. Loved it.
I also measure my time with saying Rosaries; it's better than how I used to measure time driving, in Texas, by the number of beer cans I tossed out of the window.
Splendid article and sumptuous writing.
